Thailand
[edit]I don't think the content of Wikipedia articles can be decided on the basis of what will offend the Thai government. Do you have any specific knowledge about Maha Vajiralongkorn and whether the statements made about his marriage at that article are correct or incorrect? Adam 01:34, 29 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Do I understand you to say that Vajiralongkorn is divorced from his first wife and legally married to his second wife? In that case, are the children of his second marriage legitimate under Thai law? Are they in line to inherit the throne? Who is Vajiralongkorn's legal heir? Adam 00:30, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi Waerth. It's rather likely that I will delay my trip to Thailand to early next year - the family party which was planned for Loy Krathong day has been postponed, but we don't know the new date yet. So sadly I will miss the opportunity to take photos of Loy Krathong, but the advantage is that our two trip don't overlap anymore. If you cannot wait to have a Wikipedia meetup in BKK feel free to do the first one without me, but if can wait till January (or eventually February, don't know yet) that's also fine for me. And we can also meet when you come to Netherlands in end of November. andy 16:27, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)
History
[edit]The History of Australia is "all scooped up in one article," divided in the middle for reasons of length, as is the History of Thailand as I have rewritten it. Sukhothai and Ayutthaya were periods of Siamese / Thai history and should be treated as such, and the separate articles should redirect to the main article. Adam 08:35, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
New South Wales etc are current political subdivisions of Australia and thus have their own historical articles, just as we can have History of Issan or History of Bangkok for Thailand. Sukhothai and Ayutthaya are not current political divisions of Thailand. Neither were they states called "Sukhothai" or "Ayutthaya," they were Siamese kingdoms and are given these names by historians from their capital cities. They were not Mon or Malay or anything else. They were an integral part of Siamese history and should be treated as such. Adam 08:53, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hi Waerth
[edit]In my very humble opinion, I reckon this is not really helping, I mean:
http://nl.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Overleg_gebruiker%3AMuijz&diff=0&oldid=593967
I caused trouble towards Muijz, Jimbo said I was wrong, so I have to bear the consequences. The consequences are in my eyes: making amends towards Muijz.
I don't see any other place to try to make these amends apart from Muijz's user talk page on Dutch Wikipedia (as you well know, I tried to make amends outside a user talk page not so long ago, which didn't work until I went to the user talk page of the concerned person in the end).
Probably the misunderstanding is at my side: I'd seen the message that you had emptied Muijz's user talk page at his request. I had not realised this would extend beyond the period he had been blocked (which had ended by the time I wrote my message, if I'm not wrong in my calculation).
So, maybe, if you think that a good idea, could you ask Muijz to end the systematic emptying of his user talk page, so that I (and the rest of the Dutch Wikipedia community) can read his first hand reaction to my offering amends?
May I ask, until amends are accepted (or finally rejected, which I hope would not be the case) by Muijz, to not erase this message here on your English user talk page?
Thanks!

WHO ARE YOU???
[edit]What the hell are you doing? Now I am blocked again. I am getting extremely tired of this irresponsible behaviour from users with rights to block others here at Wikipedia. A user named Mario Roering is using the Wikipedia for misconduct and defamation of my person and genseiryu in general. For that reason AND FOR THAT REASON ALONE I am correcting his misconduct by removing links from Wikipedia pointing to sites with extreme misconduct and defamatory contents. It is censoring me, as I am a victim, when I cannot defend myself. THAT is both irresponsible and unintelligent behaviour from you. If you cannot understand that, then you certainly should not have the power to block other peoples IP. Especially not as you become an accessory to these violations of conduct and content as even stated by Wikipedia. I guess you do not adhere to the same rules, as everyone else has to do?? Or perhaps you know Mario Roering personally? You should not meddle in things you have no knowledge of, and you should in no way judge me when all I do is defending myself. I never changed anything except removing links that attacked ME. Mario Roering is using multiple accounts at Wikipedia in order to hide his activities. I am an honest person, and for this reason I use only ONE account. You should consider that as well.
Look forward to hearing from you VERY soon. As more time goes by, this will only be more time in which Mario Roering can continue his unchallenged misconduct and defamation of me. Do you have any responsibility in you? I hope so, and I look forward to receive your most prompt response. Please also see this page before answering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:JeremyA

Block on Dutch wikipedia
[edit]You have been blocked on Dutch wikipedia for one day for vandalizing a persons userpage multiple times even though you have been given a warning. Waerth 8 July 2005 22:23 (UTC)
Since you wanted me to explain ..... A) mishbehaviour on nl.wikipedia for a longer time. B) you received a warning in this case and you were warned before C) I removed the links on Mario Roerings page personally and gave him a warning in Dutch. So as opposed to what you are saying there is no-one defaming you in nl.wikipedia. D) I hope you and Mario will find other places to fight your fued. Because of the silliness of 2 grown men nl.wikipedia is now without an article with regards to your sport. E) I do not care who is wrong or right. You are blocked for 24 hours on nl.wikipedia ... Mario is on warning, he will receive the same block if he continues. Greetings from Bangkok, Thailand Waerth 9 July 2005 15:57 (UTC)
I do not agree with you even for just a second. Censoring one party over another, who is indeed breaking the rules of Wikipedia on so many occations with no regard to anyone or respect in general, is not the way to solve anything. My dispute with Mario Roering was brought forward by himself. His misconduct and defamation should be reason enough for my actions. If you cannot see that, then I only that you would become the victim of such behaviour yourself. Then perhaps you would understand what I am talking about. If Wikipedia (and I have the understanding that Wikipedia cannot) handle this kind of behaviour, when a person (Mario Roering) keep editing and forcing his lies and twisted perceptiong of his so-called facts onto Wikipedia articles, and at the same time without any kind of warning of consequence uses and exploits Wikipedia to fight his personal wars. THAT is what is the problem. You should take your time to understand this, as you clearly does not. You claim that he does not put any defamatory links or text on Wikipedia. Which stone did you crawl out under? He is doing nothing else. That is his entire purpose here at Wikipedia. You als claim to have removed all these links and given Mario Roering a warning for doing so?? Well, I don't see it. The links are still there. And that is on ALL of his user pages, no matter what language you claim to have removed the links on. So, once again, where is the responsibility at? This certainly does not look good on Wikipedia's record. But actually I don't care about that, I only care whether or not you are partial, and if you can stand behind your words or not? Are you going to remove the links? Peter Lee 13:23, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
You have written one sentence containing absolute nonsense on my discussion page. I have done nothing here at Wikipedia except removing from Mario Roering's userpage links with obvious defamatory contents. You even wrote that you had removed these from his page, and that you have warned him about continuing this behaviour. STILL you have NOT removed these links. In addition it can be seen on Mario's userpage (history) that he today updated the link without any reaction on your part. WHY NOT??? So no matter what you say, the blocking of my account can only be considered a way to censor me, and to make sure that Mario can continue his actions at Wikipedia. In this regard I must point your attention to my userpage, as Mario (although misplaced) has put a message to YOU on my talkpage. I wanted to remove it, but I will give you the chance to read it first. The articles about Genseiryu are so filled up with errors, mistakes and diliberate inaccurate information, lies and twisted contents in regard to the truth. What I have done ever since I saw these lies and incorrect information, was to correct and delete them. I get blocked. If you want to solve this matter once and for all, then you should do as promised. REMOVE the links with obvious defamatory contents from Mario's homepage. If you check out the links, you will see that Angelfire (where this page was hosted) has been deleted from Angelfire's servers. This is the FOURTH time Angelfire (Lycos) has done this. They are responsible people taking a complaint SERIOUS. After having investigated the pages, they agree that the contents of these pages contain text of misconduct and obvious defamatory contents. So if you see that Angelfire has closed the page, then now you know the reason. The other thing to do, would be to delete and remove EVERYTHING in regard to Genseiryu on Wikipedia. As long as anyone takes time to write lies, obvious defamatory issues, diliberate incorrect information etc. the edit war will continue of course. If Wikipedia cannot find another more suitable solution to the problem, then THAT must be the solution. The pages must be deleted. I have earlier on many occasions made it clear to you and other so-called SYSOPS that these articles has no place at Wikipedia because of too much dispute. It is as simple as that. At the moment only TWO people fight this fight. But if you are clever, you should know that both sides have about 50 people ready to step in. That of course is not a threat, but I have urged Wikipedia to stop this nonsense a long time ago. Nobody would listen. The present situation is thus a situation created solely by the SYSOPS at Wikipedia who simply does not care about the problem. That attitude simply is not an attitude used for solving anything. I wait for your reply. Peter Lee 20:24, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
It has NOT been REMOVED
[edit]Why do you claim that the defamatory links on Mario's userpage etc. has been removed when it has not? Are you really that careless? If you would take a look for once on Mario's userpage especially, you would notice, that the links in questions are STILL there, has never been removed, and will always be updated by Mario to be included in the page. ARE you going to do something about it, or are you still just keeping to claim something that is indeed that, just a claim? Are you ever going to admonish Mario for his behaviour, warn him never to include such contents in the future, or are you simply on a crusade to keep censoring me? So far I am in no way impressed with your involvement. Peter Lee 10:55, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
I was not aware that you had sysop rigths only on the Dutch section. Thank you for clearing that up. Still I do not agree with you though. The one link has been removed, I can see that of course, but the link to his "Forum" has not been removed. This forum is indeed also created with the one purpose only, namely to continue misconduct and defamation of my person. So it would only be fair to remove this as well. As long as it is there, I see no difference from then and now. Peter Lee 13:42, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

Name format of people in Asian cultures
[edit]Hi Waerth, presently I'm working on the Wikipedia:naming conventions (people) proposal, which is meant as an explicitation of wikipedia:naming conventions (common names) applied to articles on people.
A wikipedian remarked that in most Asian cultures the usual name format is not a "First name" followed by a "Last name". I have no clue regarding these cultures, I mean, I know somewhat about the Western cultures (including some about antiquity), but thought I'd better ask someone who knows both cultures. For me an example like:
Porntip Nakhirunkanok (I just chose a random Thai name)
seems like a "First name" ("Porntip") followed by a "Last name" ("Nakhirunkanok"). Is that correct? Or just a miguided idea of a Westerner? And whether or not it would be "correct" for Thai: have you any idea how it works in other Asian cultures?
Thanks if you could give some info - for example on Wikipedia talk:naming conventions (people). That would be a great help! --Francis Schonken 10:11, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Woodstock Pub has been proposed for deletion. Please see the article for details. NickelShoe 22:46, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- For the record, I've been to the Woodstock pub, while I was in the US Navy, and while it is a wonderful place, it's not notable. Nothing important has happened there, and it's not considered a bastion of Bangkok. This is the stuff that Wikitravel was created for. I'm going to recommend the article for AFD, but I would also highly recommend that the article be moved to Wikitravel as well.--み使い Mitsukai 13:11, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, small. Note I said "relatively small", meaning relative to the native population. Unless you have some claims that there are more foreigners in Bangkok or in Thailand on a constant basis than the natives, then my statement is true and it stands as such. Additionally, note that I said I was there visiting while in the USN. That means I didn't live there and make no claims to having done so, so for your statement that I know nothing about the expat community may be true, I don't have to know much to know about relative sizes.
- Secondly, you claim that it's mentioned in books and songs, yet you have no citations on these. In fact, until the article was {{prod}}ded, that much wasn't even added. There is no proof that the place is notable, even though it is a wonderful place. Unless you provide proof, WP:HOLE applies.
- Lastly, Wikitravel was created for stuff such as this. It may not be a Wikimedia project, but that has not stopped people from copying things over there before. As I said before, I highly recommend that you do so, regardless of the results of this article.--み使い Mitsukai 01:19, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

- It's funny how a photo would be deleted if it isn't being used right now, right away. Isn't there such a thing as "future, potential use"? Besides, it really does take effort to upload, categorize, and otherwise describe an image, yet takes but a second to dump all that. Wouldn't "benefit of the doubt" be a better policy? When this article was proposed for deletion last year, you voted to keep it, with the comment that she's notable in the Netherlands. I agree with you that notability in the Netherlands is enough; the person doesn't need to be notable in the United States. I'm curious whether you still consider her notable in the Netherlands.
