Francis Ford Coppola Presents page now redirects here

[edit]

There was a completely unsourced page for the lifestyle brand. That now redirects to this page.

I didn't see anything that needed to be merged, but if anyone else wants to take a look here's that page's last version.

Treatment of women section

[edit]

I just blanked the new treatment of women section, which was based largely around just one event, and that event has been brought into question by one of the folks they were trying to posit as a victim. This is a BLP, and this is a fresh accusation; if for some reason it stands a test of time and is talked about when folks talk about Coppola, we can readd it at a later date. This is not yet so vital in his career that we need to teach the controversy. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 18:29, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As a general rule, I think it′s better practice to include the new information, rather than remove the original allegations. That being said, this seems like it was a fairly smalltime story to begin with, so yeah, removing it is probably the best move. — HTGS (talk) 05:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Speakfor23: I see that, rather than engage on the talk page to find consensus, you have readded this material. This is WP:GOSSIP. The Guardian doesn't say that these things happened; the Guardian says unnamed people allege that it happened. The things that Variety is claiming are what a person they filmed claimed is false. This page is a biography of a living persons, and should be edited conservatively in the face of that. Please remove your addition. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 22:45, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's unfortunate that it was claimed that there were "several women." Menz wasn't the only one he attempted to hug and kiss. Not "smalltime" either."Speakfor23 (talk) 22:54, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Variety article was interesting. Not "smalltime." Coppola's alleged treatment was even criticized as "old school."[1]Speakfor23 (talk) 22:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

By whom? The Guardian didn't call it "old school"; some unknown person supposedly did. How is that news deserving space in this biography? -- Nat Gertler (talk) 22:58, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After The Guardian came the Variety report. He was called "old school" in the negative way. This #MeToo movement has made numerous headlines in recent years, and Hollywood has been a major target of it.Speakfor23 (talk) 23:01, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We really aren't required to document every anonymous insult in a biographical article. This is not an article on the #MeToo movement (and so far, no one appears to have "Me Too'd" on this, it was others going "them too" at best), or on Hollywood. This is a biography of a living person, and is subject to the relevant restrictions seen at WP:BLP. I have again removed the material. Please do not reinsert until you find consensus to do so. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 23:05, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
there is a video with the allegations dude 2A01:CB0C:8805:3000:6C70:98C1:1CED:6FCC (talk) 23:48, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rumble Fish paragraph organization

[edit]

As it currently stands, the paragraph about The Outsiders makes an aside about Rumble Fish, then apparently swerves back into The Outsiders ("Stay Gold" is from Outsiders rather than Rumble Fish, no?), then there is a separate paragraph about Rumble Fish. Seems like this should be fixed to keep the first paragraph about Outsiders and the second about Rumble Fish; but maybe there are important reasons to include the aside. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2401:E180:8880:6574:5072:8E40:1A4E:6606 (talk) 13:05, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Advertisements section heading doesn't appear

[edit]

The Advertisements heading doesn't appear in the body, but it's visible in the TOC. I don't know how to fix it. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 06:18, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Valjean: Appears fine for me, both on my laptop and in mobile mode on my phone (both Chrome). So problem may be on your end. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 07:03, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I use Firefox most of the time, but the problem also exists when I use Google Chrome. That link in the TOC doesn't work. When I go to the section, there is no text in the heading, only an edit link. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 16:35, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
